Balance and wellnessBalance and wellness

At WorkSafeBC, we use an integrated approach to address issues related to personal and organizational safety, health, and wellness. And, we set out to make a difference one human being at a time by supporting, educating, and empowering our employees to take a proactive approach to their own safety, health and wellness.

In 2007, WorkSafeBC received the Psychologically Healthy Workplace Award for creating policies and programs demonstrating excellence in caring for staff, and promoting workplace psychological health in the areas of: employee growth and development, health and safety, and work-family-life balance.

As a member of our staff, you’ll have access to services that can help you get the most out of work... and life.

Fitness program

We offer many ways for you to keep fit. Our Richmond office includes a fitness program that offers equipment and classes. Employees outside of Richmond are eligible for our fitness reimbursement program, receiving $110/calendar year toward a fitness program in their area.

Healthy food options

Our Richmond cafeteria offers a variety of healthy food choices at reasonable prices, five days a week.

Onsite massage program

Massage therapists visit our various locations to offer on-site massage on a regular basis. Designed for convenience, this optional arrangement is paid for by staff wishing to participate, and is eligible for reimbursement through our extended health program.

Confidential counseling

Our Employee and Family Assistance Program is free and can help you and your family with career, relationship, parenting, eldercare, naturopathic, nutritional, and financial, and crisis counseling.

Wellness Rewards Program

Make healthy lifestyle choices and collect wellness points to earn exciting gifts and prizes through our annual Wellness Rewards Program. Or, participate in special events and initiatives throughout the year, including a quit smoking program, corporate Vancouver Sun Run team, health and wellness fair, and dragon boating.

Other health and wellness initiatives at WorkSafeBC include generous benefits packages, alcohol and drug program, and work station ergonomic assessments. By creating a culture of wellness, we ensure our focus on health and safety elsewhere is taken seriously, both inside and outside our organization.

Corporate Daycare

Through our partnership with Kids & Company, you’re guaranteed a spot for your child at their Richmond facility within six months of registering. Plus, the company offers back-up care if your regular caregiver is sick, when school is cancelled, or when you or your spouse need to work on a regularly scheduled day off.

Social events

The Social Club organizes group and family-oriented activities, and is a source for discount tickets to various entertainment events.
